Description

The UBC Okanagan Outstanding Instructor Award recognizes exemplary instructors within each Faculty for their teaching over the past three years, with emphasis on the most recent academic year, based on an assessment of their teaching conducted by the Faculty in which they are appointed.

Nomination Information:

  • Nominations will be accepted from students, faculty members, and FCCS leadership
  • Nominators must fill out a short Qualtrics form and provide a rationale explaining why you are nominating this person (max 250 words)
  • Nominations are due by noon on Dec 18, 2024.
  • Nominees will be notified of their nomination by 4pm on Dec 18, 2024.
  • Nominees will need to submit a Word or PDF document (max 2 pages, 12 pt font) by 4pm on January 6, 2025 that includes the following:
    • An assessment of the nominee’s qualifications supported by evidence from any or all of the following sources:
      • The nominee’s Student Experience of Instruction (a summary, table or graph, from the past three years only),
      • The nominee’s peer evaluations of teaching (a summary or highlights),
      • Brief student testimony gathered specifically for the nomination package,
      • Testimony from colleagues and/or FCCS leadership gathered specifically for the nomination package,
      • Other (e.g. awards for teaching and other relevant accolades etc.)
    • An assessment of teaching versatility (e.g. ability to take on diverse teaching assignments and teaching preps; teaching in varied environments including large courses, multi-modal teaching, and active and experiential teaching, etc.)
    • Optional: an assessment of SoTL research and other Educational Leadership activities only if they can be shown to directly benefit student learning.

Winners will be determined by the Undergraduate Committee on January 13, 2025.
