Graduate Teaching Assistantships

Job Classification:

Depending on their program and qualifications Graduate TA’s will be ranked at the level of GTA I or GTA II

Student Eligibility:

  • Must be registered full-time in a Master’s or PhD program at UBC Okanagan
  • Possess necessary educational qualifications
  • Priority is given to graduate students in FCCS

Positions Available:

Positions are available in the following areas:

  • ARTH 100 and 200 level courses
  • CULT 100 and 200 level courses
  • ENGL 100 and 200 level course
  • SPAN 100 and 200 level course

The number of positions is dependent on funding and enrollment. 


  • GTA I, $32.18 per hour
  • GTA II, $31.00 per hour

Application Deadline:

April 30th of each year (late applications may still be considered)

Duties and estimated hours of work:

GTA duties include the following:

  • Marking assignments and exams
  • Managing discussion periods
  • Teaching tutorials and/or lectures under supervision of faculty
  • Invigilation duties
  • Academic assistance to students in office hours

Estimated hours of work per term: 192

Positions and the number of hours assigned to GTAs are subject to funding.
