Biography
Patrick Lundeen is an artist, teacher and musician born in Lethbridge, AB (traditional Blackfoot Confederacy territory). He studied at the Alberta College of Art and Design, Glasgow School of Art and Concordia University and has also taught at Concordia University, Memorial University and the University of the Fraser Valley. Before relocating to Kelowna Patrick lived and worked for extended periods in Calgary, Montreal and New York City.
Past exhibitions include the Odd Gallery (Dawson City), the Alternator Centre for Contemporary Art (Kelowna), L’Ecart (Rouyn-Noranda), Mike Weiss Gallery (NYC), ThreeWalls (Chicago), Confederation Centre (Charlottetown), Wetterling Gallery (Stockholm), Katherine Mulherin (Toronto), L’Oeil de Poisson, (Quebec) and AKA Gallery (Saskatoon). Lundeen has received research and creation grants from the Canada Council for the Arts, the BC Arts Council and The Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec.
Patrick has an upcoming solo exhibition called “CHEAP! “opening at the Kelowna Art Gallery on November 18, 2022, and running until January 29, 2023, a limited edition 7” record (also called “Cheap! ”) will be released in conjunction with the exhibition.
Patrick Lundeen was selected to be the city of Kelowna 2022 resident artist. His project entitled “Happy Day Free Gift Truck” is a community-based, socially engaged art installation that will give free gifts to all comers every Saturday in the Rotary Commons Park Saturday between October 15 and November 19 from noon until 5 pm.
Since 2020 Patrick Lundeen has held a seat on the board of directors at the Alternator Centre for Contemporary Art.
