Art on the Line

This popular annual event brings together the local arts community to celebrate the work of our students, faculty, alumni, as well as artists practicing in the community in the spirit of raising funds.

The evening is an entertaining art raffle with many more exciting prizes available to be won. Over 100 works of art are collected from local artists, faculty, and students. One ticket admits two people to the event, and guarantees winning one work of art from the collection. Even the last ticket drawn has a choice from over 20 works, which creates an atmosphere of suspense and entertainment.

Funds raised from this event are distributed amongst the Visual Arts Course Union to financially aid with events such as the 4th year graduate exhibition, visiting artists, and art focused student trips. Each year, 10% of the proceeds go to a local charity.

It’s been 20 years of Art on the Line! Plans are underway planning the annual fundraising event.

“I love Art on the Line. There is so much talent in the valley, and so many great students studying fine art at UBC Okanagan. Art on the Line is the best place to see work by all of our local artists. It’s a fun night to support students. AND, you walk away with a great piece of work for your walls.” ~ Michael V. Smith

Call for Submissions

The committee is currently accepting donations in the form of two and three dimensional artworks. Each submission is auctioned off at the event through a randomly drawn raffle process whereby auction ticket holders have purchased full price tickets at $200.00. As the goal is to offer the best selection of artwork, the request is that donations be of suitable quality and equivalent to the auction ticket price.

Submission information

Artwork can be submitted on campus at UBC Okanagan to classrooms CCS 127 and CCS 226 for all other artworks, submission forms posted outside of the doors or below.
